The Coalition Against Organized Retail Crime is an organization which is devoted to providing information to retailers, the public, and Congress about measures which need to be taken to prevent Organized Retail Crime. They wanted a logo which established an immediate understanding as to the purpose of their organization.
The stop sign, with its immediate mental associations, seemed the most logical visual from our point of view. We used numerous other visual analogies in the conceptual stages, but ultimately a design which focused on clarity made the most sense. The bold red and black is subsequently repeated in their other materials.
